I Love the "one year ago today" posts that show up on Facebook. I remember this moment very well, as we drove down gravel roads in central Nebraska, chasing the sun before it fell beyond the horizon. During Bella's last adventure, I made it a point to catch as many sunrises and sunsets as possible. Some were more photogenic than others, yet each sunset was a reminder of a beautiful day that we were blessed to have spent together and each sunrise was a blessing of a new day.

It's always a gamble when you put your camera in the hands of someone else. Here is Bella and I, one year ago today in front of General Washington, minus his head, as his horse trots through the Boston Commons. We had so many grand adventures, and it's wonderful that Facebook is helping remind me of when and where they happened as I'm working to put all of them together into a book that you can have and flip through journey after journey, city after city, and all the wonderful people we met along the way! I'm truly Loving reliving these adventures and getting more of the details written down. Hope your New Year has started off great!

Someone invited me to join in on 30 days of gratitude. Feeling in a bit of a slump, and knowing the power of gratitude, I decided to join in and reap the benefits. 1/30: Today, I am grateful for the countless photos of Bella to remind me of her amazing life. When times get hard from missing my girl, looking at these pictures heals my heart and reminds me not to concentrate on the pain of the very end, but all of the great times had during our time together. Some of my favorite photos, are the ones where I caught the sun behind her and captured the rays shining upon her like the angel that she was and is to me and so many people she met along the way. Happy Sigh. I sure do Love this girl. What are YOU grateful for today?

In Chicago, where our adventure began just over a year ago: "While on a walk in the town of Oswego, IL, with our good friend, Avery, we happened across the Veteran's Memorial. Bella girl and I paused for a moment to remember the 4-legged soldiers who have faithfully served and continue to serve alongside the two legged ones." ((Bella then chimed to add 3-legged friends in the mix))

"Working hospice, I can sense when animals are ready to pass. Her body is slowing down, but she's not ready. She wants to stay with you and continue adventuring. The bond between you is so strong, and it's great to see." This journey has had its fare share of fun and excitement, but it sure hasn't been easy. As Bella's cough becomes more persistent, our time left seems to be growing shorter by the day. Yet, when I take her into the wilderness where she can roam freely, she comes to life and seems to preoccupied with exploring and sniffing to be bothered by mortality. So as long as that's still the case, I'll do my best to let her live as she prefers, as an explorer. She truly is....my angel here on Earth. I Love You, Bella Girl
